Mark Schmidt gets first class honours in Violin!

August 30th, 2010

Congratulations to Mark Schmidt who landed an 80% First Class Honors in Royal Conservatory Violin examination.  This is a very difficult instrument to learn, and even more difficult to get in the First Class Honors category.  Mark’s growth musically and personally has been significant this year, as he moved through the stages in preparation of his first RCM examination.    Well done Mark!!! Mark also plays piano, and will be his focus as well as violin this upcoming year.

Congratulations to Lidia I. !!!

n646915173_2920[1]Word just came in tonight at 10:15 p.m., and YES I PHONED Lidia, that her mark for grade 1 Royal Conservatory for piano was 94 !!!!

Lidia…..what can I say, I am just so proud of you, you worked so hard, and went in to your examintion confident, excited, and ready to share your music “Lidia style” with the examiner.  You asked me why you got such a high mark and this is why……you found your love of music deep down inside you Lidia, during the preparation of this examination, and you knew exactly what you were capable of doing.  Always remember the infamous moment I tried to prepare you to meet the examiner.  I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard….. Your name and mark will be sent to the local Registered Teacher’s association for a chance at a Gold Medal!

How many show and tells can you take to class Aimee-Marie.  This girl has won a lot of student of the week awards as well as many others in the CMF.  She has grown significantly in her piano playing and at a very young age is studying with very little help from her mom, who by the way plays a significant role as our vocal group accompanist.  Aimee-Marie has become an independent thinker, knows her patterns and sequences as well as keys and is starting grade 1 RCM in preparation for an examination.  Aimee-Marie is also preparing to play for her school a piece written by Greig called “Morning”.  Nice balance in your hands girlie!!

Jayden has moved so quickly in his music journey it’s hard to keep up with him.  He has a certain flavor that he is looking for in his music, and when I can not find music right away, he’ll just compose it!  This boy has an amazing ear and love for his music.  He uses his digital and combines voices until he has an orchestral piece that suits his vision.  I remember his parents saying when he got home from school, he’d run right to the piano with his napsack still on his back!

Studio pictures of students 070This is our Logan……when asked what his goal in music was, he said….I want to do grade 3 and 4 in one year.  Well he is doing it, he is in grade 4 now and doing extremely well.  Logan also plays the violin or any instrument really.  If he picks one up, he can play it! Logan is preparing for his performance of “Way Cool”, and can he jazz that piece up! He will of course play more pieces, but he has a jazz snap to his music that is quite remarkable.

Great potential and great personality!
